When John Hattie synthesised his research, he found five key themes – or strands as we like to call them - that help accelerate student learning: Feedback, Visible Learners, the Visible Teacher, Know Thy Impact, and Systems and Processes. The Impact Series is a collection of whole staff workshops and online courses designed to enhance school capability around these key themes so teachers can have the greatest impact on students’ learning.
After you have taken the Foundation Series and collected evidence about what your school needs to focus on, you will engage in the Impact Series workshops and online courses to support the initiatives determined in your professional learning action plan.
Dive deep into the research that relates to student ownership of learning in order to develop visible learners in the classroom.
Learn more about why clarity is important for teachers and learners and how to develop learning intentions and make them visible to learners.
Shift the conversation from giving feedback to receiving feedback so you can evaluate your impact.
Design effective pre- and post-tests using the SOLO taxonomy as the framework for effective reliable design.
Engage with the research-based Model of Learning that describes the science of learning and consider how high-impact strategies can impact stragies.
Teachers will be able to develop assessment-capable visible learners, provide clarity to their students through learning intentions, give and receive effective feedback, create effective assessments that help them understand their impact and embed high-impact practices in their classroom.
